Camellia japonica 'Doncklaeri'

This cultivar is a true antique, first appearing in Camellia literature in Japan as 'Masayoshi' in the late 18th century.  Cuttings were carried to Europe by Dr. von Siebold of the Dutch East India Company in 1829 and given the name 'Doncklaeri'.
