The small bell-shape white flowers that grow underneath its bowed branches bloom in Spring and early Fall. Although the fragrant blooms have a have a strong, sweet honey-like smell they are highly toxic to humans and some animals. This long-lived perennial is hardy in USDA zones 7a to 9b and prefers acidic organic soil. It has a dense, compact growth habit, and can grow up to 8 to 12 feet high and 5 to 6 feet wide unless it is controlled by proper pruning.
