While this species has striking foliage, the greenish cream flowers have a minimal ornamental display. The leaves can be up to 7 inches long with indented veins and a rather stiff texture. This one can become a small tree up to 30 feet tall. The fruits are unusual with a flaky furfuraceous surface which means it has a rough brownish scaly appearance. The species is widespread in SE China, Vietnam and Laos.
