Camellia brevistyla var. rubida

Camellia brevistyla var. rubida

  • $50.00

This variety of Camellia brevistyla is smaller in most aspects compared to the species. The tiny flowers are only an inch across and appear in early fall (late August) but continue blooming into January when protected from hard freezes. The leaves are 1-2 inches long and dark green while the plant has a bushy habit in a container. I expect it will be more upright when planted in the ground. This prolific seed setter will hybridize readily with C. sasanqua or C. brevistyla and the hybrids will have pale pink blooms.
