Sideroxylon thornei, Swamp Buckthorn

Sideroxylon thornei, or Swamp Buckthorn, is a rare shrub native to the southeastern United States. It produces clusters of small, white flowers from May to June that give way to purple-black berries in the fall. Though this plant generally grows to only +/-8' at full maturity, it has the potential to range up to 20' under the right conditions.
