Exploring Japanese Tea
Saturday, April 6 2-4pm
In this 2 hour workshop, we will explore the world of Japanese Tea. Led by instructor Miles Cramer, who just returned from a trip to Japan in March to study the history of Japanese Tea. Most famously, Japanese teas are steamed green teas. We will discuss how these teas are produced and the brewing techniques. We will also explore Japanese tea culture and learn about the history of Japanese Tea. We will taste through a menu of teas sourced on this recent trip.

Miles Cramer teaches educational tea workshops and tea meditation throughout the southeast, introducing people to the deep heritage and joy of drinking high quality tea through his company Smiles Tea. He has been working in the tea industry since 2009. In his work, he has traveled to tea gardens throughout East Asia and learned first-hand from tea masters about cultivation, production and tea culture. He has also worked with Dobra Tea for 13 years managing the Asheville teahouses.
