Camellia japonica 'April Blues'
The newest introduction from Dr. Clifford Parks' cold hardy breeding line. This is a late blooming, formal double that is rose-red in warm weather; but when it blooms in cool spring weather, the medium sized flowers can be a bluish pink to purple color. The original plant survived the winter of 1985 when temperatures dropped to -9F and cultivated plants since have proven quite resistant to winter cold.
