Camellia sasanqua Autumn Moon = 'Marie Kirk'
Camellia sasanqua Autumn Moon = 'Marie Kirk'
This fine white sasanqua has showy, formal double flowers. Good choice for a hedge or as a single-specimen tree. Introduced by Arthur A. Kirk of Virginia in 2000. The correct name is 'Marie Kirk' but we all know this as "Autumn Moon" so I will keep using the invalid name. 'Autumn Moon' was used by K. Sawada although that plant may be extinct.
The confusion started when the plant was first sold as Autumn Moon (no single quotes) as a marketing strategy.
