This is one of the selections of Camellia oleifera used by Dr. Ackerman for introducing cold hardiness into Camellia plants. The original plant, located in Asian Valley at the National Arboretum, is a multi-trunked tree over 25' tall with a massive spread of roughly 45'! This plant is certainly worth seeing, regardless of season: the bark is a powdery, cinnamon color and numerous white flowers bloom in the fall.
