Camellia x 'Optical Illusion'
Camellia x 'Optical Illusion'
Selected from the same batch of seedlings as 'Solstice', this yellow flowered Camellia has long, strap-like petals that are often arranged in a somewhat spiraling pattern, similar to 'October Affair'. Formal double flowers have pink overtones. The striking flower and thin, light green leaves make this not-so-cold-hardy cultivar worthwhile in cool greenhouses or warmer climates such as Florida or southern California. The plant itself is strong and will take some freezing but the flower buds are quite tender. A Camellia Forest introduction, 2015.
