Ilex 'Hefcup'

Ilex 'Hefcup is a hybrid holly (actually a branch mutation found on Nellie R Stevens, Ilex aquifolium x Ilex cornuta) with a reportedly slow growth habit (for a holly) and interesting leaf color, discovered by Randy Hefner.  

Growth rate, habit: slow, upright

Mature size: 12-15 feet

Soil/water: well-draining and slightly acidic/medium

Cold hardiness temperature: -5 to -10 F range (zone 6-9)

Light: sun to part sun

Blooms: April

Features: golden edged leaves

Special considerations: although slower growing than other hollies, it is still quite vigorous compared to camellias
