The plant originated in Tom Krenitsky's garden as an open-pollinated seedling of
'After Elizabeth'.
Its most distinguishing characteristic is that it is a very late
blooming deciduous magnolia (late April in central NC) with large,
purplish streaked, vase-shaped flowers produced over a long period of time.
It becomes a tree of medium stature (15ft. in ten years) when planted in
partial shade. It flowers even later than its seed parent 'After
Elizabeth'.
