Formerly called Persea podadenia, and also known as Mexican redbay. Endemic to Mexico and Belize, an upright and pyramidal shaped evergreen tree with pink tinged foliage along the midrib from the laurel family.

Plant in sun to part shade.

Growth rate, habit: upright

Mature size: 15-25 ft high

Cold hardiness temperature:  0 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit (zone 7)

Light: sun to part shade

Blooms: small yellow, April to June (Mexico)

Features: produces small globose berries, June to December (Mexico)

Special considerations: grows well in the southeastern U.S. and on the West Coast
