Also known as Virginia Meadowsweet or Virginia spiraea. This is a rare deciduous flowering shrub, native to the southern Appalachian Mountains. It blooms in summer (June-July).

In its native habitat it grows in flood plains and along riverbanks, this would do well in a low-lying area of a garden that gets frequent rain or is by a downspout.
