This hybrid Sweetshrub, developed at NC State, has wine colored flowers intermediate between the two parents; Carolina Allspice and Chinese Allspice. After the plants develop for a few years, the floral display is quite impressive with large, long lasting flowers over an extended period of time in late spring. The leaves are in general moderately sized, but the most vigorous shoots may yield leaves up to 12 inches long. Hybrid vigor is quite evident: this plant gets much larger than it's parents, commonly growing up to 6' in a year's time. [15'T x 12'W, Zones 5-9]
