Daphniphyllum macropodum

The "Redneck Rhododendron" is one of the hardiest broad-leaf evergreens. This tough, deer resistant, handsome small tree is very easy to grow, requiring little maintenance. The foliage is similar to a Rhododendron with red petioles. The flowers are about as simple as possible; on female plants the flowers are made up of stigmas and on male plants the flowers are stamens only. It grows as a large screening specimen and is a wonderful addition to a full sun to part shade landscape. [20'T x 15'W, Zones 6-9]
